Satellite Link Emulator for Satlabs DVB-RCS Common Test Bed (CTB)

Contract: European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) - ESA - 2003

             The SatLabs Group's new logo

The test bed was developed under a contract from the European Space Agency. The test bed is an essential tool for executing the SatLabs terminal qualification testing. It has been developed as an independent test system with a dedicated design for terminal testing.

The test bed offers all the necessary functionality to perform the certification tests and is designed to be upgradeable to support future DVB-RCS enhancements such as DVB-S2 and future interoperability requirements.

The Satellite Link Emulator was developed as the RF interface of the DVB-RCS Common Test. As part of its functions, it adjusts the signal levels for both the forward and return links, emulates transparent DVB-S and DVB-RCS links, inject specific Eb/No and C/N in the Return Link, emulates satellite impairments and monitors the RF spectrum of the DVB-RCS signal.

The project partners were: VeriSat(N), Alcatel Bell Space (B), SkySoft (P), ERZIA (E).

The system is currently installed and in operation at Cetecom Test Lab in Saarbruken (Germany)
